イギリスの地方都市ルートンの膨大な新聞アーカイブから、ティモシー・プラスが古い誌面写真の断片を選び出し、架空の物語世界を編纂した一冊。労働者階級の日常、街角の群衆、ささやかな祝祭、静寂とざわめきの交錯……。事実と想像、記憶と虚構がゆらぎながら重なるビジュアルは、どこか不穏な郷愁を呼び起こす。2011年にパリで設立されたアートブックを中心とする出版社RVB Booksとの共同出版。
Drawing from an enormous archive of local newspapers from the British town of Luton, Timothy Prus selects fragments of old press photographs and weaves them into an imagined narrative world. Scenes of working-class life, crowds on street corners, modest celebrations, and the interplay of stillness and murmuring bustle… The visuals—where fact and invention, memory and fiction shimmer and overlap—evoke a disquieting sense of nostalgia. Co-published with RVB Books, the Paris-based art book publisher founded in 2011.
