In the early 20th century, Cambridge University served—surprisingly—as a popular climbing spot. After nightfall, while the town slept, students gathered to scale the university’s historic buildings purely for the thrill of it. The scenes recorded by Noël Howard Symington capture students (and the police who chased them) with a mix of streetwise energy and humor. First published in 1937, this photobook has been reissued more than eight decades later by French photographer Thomas Mailaender.
